Flash is a wolf-dog cross who came to Mission: Wolf in early 2019 from the Denver Dumb Friends League. He was shy and elusive with the staff when he first arrived but has since warmed up to everyone and is even brave enough to greet new people.

Before arriving in Denver, Flash was living at a shelter in Alamosa, after leaving a home with more than fifteen other wolf-dog crosses. At Denver Dumb Friends League, he was classified with a method called phenotyping, in which an animal’s physical and behavioral attributes are analyzed. He was identified as a wolf-dog cross and with his shy nature the sanctuary setting seemed to be the best home for him.

Flash has started to figure out what life at the sanctuary is about and has been introduced to one of our resident wolves named Saurya. Before meeting each other, each animal was distrustful of strangers. They were paired with the expectation that they would grow more reclusive with each other’s company. However, the exact opposite has happened: both animals have grown more confident and social with the comfort of companionship. While they helped each other come out of their shells, their partnership did not last forever as they began to get into arguments and were separated. In October of 2021 Flash moved in with an older wolf-dog, Cephira, and they have been getting along beautifully. Flash helps keep Cephira young and Cephira has been helping to calm down Flash’s boundless energy. They both enthusiastically greet staff and visitors alike.
